Cracked 8” Sanitary Main in Houston

Cracked 8” Sanitary Main in Houston

An 8” cast iron sanitary main at the University of Houston was in desperate need of repair.  The cracked pipe was suffering from horizontal cracks previously spot repaired by university maintenance personnel, but the spot repair was not stopping the infiltration.  TDT Plumbing in Houston was on the job of solving the universities sewer predicament.  A number of job constraints were found to complicate the normally routine 30 foot shot of 8 inch.  One of the most complicated was the manhole was located in the parking lot of the facilities loading dock running directly underneath and into the building. At some points the line would have been under 14 feet of concrete making it impossible for the university to excavate.  TDT Plumbing used the Perma-Lateral air inversion system to repair the cracked 8” sanitary main and were done within five hours after arriving.  The 8” sanitary main is now guaranteed for another 50 years!
